Kujira 5 Year Old is a Ryukyu whisky made from rice at Masahiro Distillery in Okinawa, Japan. It is a single grain whisky bottled at 43% in a 750ml bottle.
The spirit is made from 100% Indica rice and black koji, a mould used in Okinawa, then aged for more than five years in first-fill virgin white oak casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose is sweet caramel and vanilla with a hint of liquorice and woody spice. The palate offers caramel, fresh vanilla and light oak tannins. The finish is smooth, mellow and sweet, with peppery wood and spice.
