Kujira 25 Year Old is a Ryukyu whisky from the Masahiro Distillery on the island of Okinawa, Japan. It is distilled from Indica rice and fermented with Okinawa's native black koji, rather than made from malted barley. The whisky is matured for at least 25 years in sherry, bourbon and white oak casks, and no caramel colour is added. It is bottled at 43%.
The nose has dark chocolate, floral notes, coconut, tropical fruit and a hint of aged leather. On the palate are dark chocolate, dried fruit, citrus and vanilla, with sandalwood and white oak. The finish is warm and gentle, with spice, dried fruit and a touch of smoke.
