This is a 2001 vintage Bas-Armagnac from Domaine de Jaurrey, the Laberdolive family estate at Labastide d'Armagnac, aged for 25 years in oak.
The Laberdolive family has made Armagnac here since 1893, across seven generations, on the golden tawny sandy soils known as sables fauves. Four grape varieties, Baco, Colombard, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche, are distilled separately at low strength in the traditional alambic armagnacais column still. The ageing takes place in oak from the estate's own wood.
Nothing is added and no colouring is used, so the spirit reflects a single harvest year.
