Lagavulin 10 Year Old is an Islay single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle with no added colour. It is a peaty, smoky whisky from the south side of the island.
Lagavulin was founded in 1816 by John Johnston and is now owned by Diageo. It is part of the Classic Malts Selection.
The nose is intense smoke and peat with sweet vanilla and caramel, a little spice and ripe apple and pear. The palate is full and rich, with velvety tannins, caramel and vanilla sweetness, spicy oak and a subtle salty note. The finish is long and warming, with chocolate, toasted wood and sea salt.
