Lagavulin 12 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 57.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from virgin oak and the distillery's smokiest reserves, with peaty casks leading saltiness, spice and smoke alongside a deep sweetness. The colour is a bright, iridescent gold and the body medium.
The nose is dry and powerfully smoky, with charcoal and fragrant peat, and a fresh base of sea air and mineral scents. Water barely alters it. The palate is lightly oily and sweet at first, then lemony acidity and sea salt, with smoke dominating. The finish is long, with peat smoke and spice.
