Lagavulin 12 Year Old is a cask strength Islay single malt from the 2021 Special Release, in a 70cl bottle at 56.5% ABV. It is pale straw-gold in colour and medium in body.
The nose is clean and maritime, with sea air, Himalayan salt, smoke-dried Lapsang Souchong tea, cocoa powder, dried seaweed and a squeeze of lemon zest. On the palate it is smooth and oily, sweet at first, then turns to lemon acidity with sea salt and char. The finish is long, with waves of smoke and chilli warmth. A drop of water rounds and sweetens the whisky.
