Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2023, known as The Ink of Legends, is a limited single malt bottled at 56.4% ABV as part of the Diageo Special Releases series. It was given further maturation in Don Julio Añejo tequila casks.
The release honours more than 200 years of Lagavulin's history, and its label and packaging draw on the symbolism of ancient Mesoamerican tattoo art.
Sea air, citrus, ripe berries and herbal smoke mark the nose. The palate is smooth and rich, with juicy plum and a light saltiness, and the finish is long, salty and spiced.
