This is the 2025 Special Release of Lagavulin, a 12 year old Islay single malt called Grain & Embers, bottled at 56.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It was matured in refill casks together with European oak that previously held Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry.
The texture is soft and slightly oily. The flavour is robust and sweet, with dried fruit, savoury spice and salt, and strong smoky hints of peat develop behind them. A drop of water makes it softer and sweeter.
