A Lagavulin from the Distillers Edition series, distilled on Islay in 1984 and bottled in 2001 at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was double matured, finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. That finish adds fruit such as raisins and dried fruit, along with a syrupy character.
It remains a rich, peaty single malt with a sweet undertone, its dry strength and sea-spray notes set against the sweetness of sun-dried grapes.
