This eight-year-old Lagavulin was released for the 200th anniversary of the distillery's founding by John Johnston in 1816. It also nods to Alfred Barnard, who in the 1880s tried an 'exceptionally fine' eight-year-old from Lagavulin. It comes in a presentation box.
The nose is fragrant, with tea-scented smoke and drying maritime aromas, and a drop of water opens it up. The palate starts with a light body that turns pleasantly oily, with a full-on Lagavulin flavour.
