Lagavulin – Distillers Edition Double Matured 2022 (70cl, 43%)

Lagavulin Distillers Edition is a double matured Islay single malt, bottled in 2022 at 43% in a 70cl bottle. After its first maturation, the whisky spends a second period in re-charred American oak seasoned with Pedro Ximenez sherry, with heavily re-charred ends. The finishing adds sweetness and texture, along with a spiciness that binds the smoke together. The nose brings plenty of peat with dried fruit, raisins and vanilla sweetness. On the palate there is coastal smoke, salted toffee and more sherry character, and the finish holds oaky spice and lingering peat.
