Lecompte Originel is a Calvados Pays d'Auge from the Lecompte distillery at Notre-Dame-de-Courson in Normandy. The appellation requires double distillation in copper pot stills. It is made from a blend of sweet, bitter-sweet, bitter and sour Norman apples, and the Master Distiller keeps only the heart of each run.
The spirit rests three years in oak before bottling, giving a youthful style that favours bright fruit over wood.
The nose offers yellow apple, green pear, peach and white grape with restrained honey. The palate is soft and medium-bodied, with apple, honeyed almond, fennel, cinnamon and a resinous note. The finish is clean and dry, with caramel, butterscotch, pear and ginger warmth.
