Leopold Bros. – New York Apple Whiskey (75cl, 40%)

Leopold Bros. New York Apple Whiskey is a fruit-led American whiskey bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It starts from the distillery's sour mash whiskey of corn and rye, blended with the fresh juice of New York heirloom apples, including Golden Delicious and Macoun. Its colour and flavour come from the fruit and a secondary maturation in used bourbon barrels, rather than syrups or additives. The nose shows crisp green apple, baking spices and vanilla custard. The palate is warming, with stewed apple and plum, honey, caramel and a touch of nutmeg. The finish keeps a lingering apple tartness, then turns sweet with raisin and dried fruit.
