Lochlea – 7 Year Old (50%)

A seven-year-old Lowland single malt from Lochlea, a single estate distillery that grows, malts and distils in one place. It was launched on Robert Burns's birthday, and the barley comes from fields the poet once worked. The whisky is a vatting of seven first fill bourbon casks, among the first that Lochlea filled after its founding. It is bottled at 50% ABV, without added colour or chill-filtration. The nose offers apple compote. The palate brings rich tropical fruit with gentle oak spice, and the finish is buttery, with pastry, cereal, spices and lively green apple.
