Lochlea – 7 Year Old Vintage 2018 Bottled from 7 Hand-Selected Casks (50%)

This is a 7 year old single malt from Lochlea, the Ayrshire distillery in the Scottish Lowlands, from the 2018 vintage. It was drawn from seven hand-selected first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at 50% ABV, without chill-filtering or added colour. The bottle carries a wheat design, a nod to the farm where Lochlea grows its own barley. The nose is creamy and sweet, with homemade stewed apple. Pineapple and mango come through on the palate alongside buttery pastry, and the finish stays long with grain notes and a touch of green apple.
