This is Batch 1 of Lochlea's cask strength whisky, bottled at 60.1% ABV. It is the first cask strength release from the Kilmarnock distillery and the start of a new annual limited edition series.
The whisky was matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon and refill Oloroso casks.
The nose is spiced fruit compote, candied orange and a touch of tobacco. The palate is full of fruit, with walnut, a little cocoa powder and oak vanilla. The finish is sticky toffee and sweet spice.
