Lochlea – Cask Strength Batch #2 (70cl, 60%)

This is the second batch in Lochlea's yearly cask strength series, a single malt from the Lowlands farm distillery. It was bottled straight from the cask at 60% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour. The batch brings together Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks with STR wine casks, meaning barrels whose inner layer of wood was shaved away before they were toasted and lightly re-charred. It was a new departure for Lochlea. The cask selection is said to bring out the fruit, nut and grain aromas typical of the distillery.
