Lochlea Cask Strength – Batch 3

Lochlea Cask Strength Batch 3 is the third cask strength bottling from the young Lochlea distillery, which releases one in limited numbers each year. It is the first release created under the new master blender, Jill Boyd. The whisky was matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry butts and ex-Islay peated casks. The nose is intense and juicy, with plenty of ripe red fruit and a hint of smoked bacon. On the palate come cherries, ripe berries, ginger cake, dark sugar, dark rye and barbecue smoke. The finish is long, with baking spices, salty smoke, red roses and a touch of oaky tannin.
