Lochlea First Release is the first single malt bottling from Lochlea Distillery in Ayrshire, released in early 2022. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 46%.
The barley was grown on the distillery's own family farm. The whisky was matured in first-fill bourbon casks and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and it is bottled non-chill-filtered with natural colour.
The nose offers orchard fruits, vanilla custard and barley sugar, with apple, pear and gentle spice. The palate brings peach, honeyed malt, vanilla and light toffee with citrus zest, and the finish is clean and fruity, with lingering malt sweetness.
