Lochlea – Harvest Edition 3rd Crop (70cl, 46%)

This is the Harvest Edition Third Crop from Lochlea, the independent, family-run farm distillery in Ayrshire, and the closing release in its seasonal small batch series. It is a single malt at 46% in a 70cl bottle, inspired by the summer barley harvest. The whisky is double matured in refill bourbon barrels and port hogsheads, together with an Oloroso sherry butt. The nose has red grapes, fresh strawberry jam and cream. On the palate come baked apple pie and white chocolate, and the finish is well balanced, with freshly ground black pepper.
