Lochlea – Orchard and Oak (70cl, 46%)

This is Orchard and Oak from Lochlea, part of the Ayrshire distillery's new core range. The whisky is made from barley the distillery grows itself, then distilled and matured on site. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in a combination of first fill bourbon casks, American virgin oak and calvados casks. The distillery describes notes of sweet apple, buttery caramel and delicate grass. It opens with sweet apple and soft earthy notes, followed by rich cream, caramel and fresh oak, ending on the distillery's signature cereal finish.
