Lochlea – Our Barley First Edition (70cl, 46%)

The first core range single malt from Lochlea, a distillery on a working farm in Ayrshire that grows its own barley. It was created by John Campbell, the distillery manager and master blender, who took up the role in November 2021. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky is matured in three types of cask: first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, STR barriques and ex-Oloroso sherry butts. The nose offers pear syrup, fruit sweets, warm cut grass and marmalade. The palate brings molasses, pepper, rye bread, macadamia nuts and cream soda. The finish is long, with an orange and beeswax note.
