Lochlea – Overtone Over & Stout Cask Release (70cl, 52%)

Overtone Over & Stout is a cask release from Lochlea, made from just five casks: three stout-seasoned, one bourbon barrel and one ex-Islay peated barrel. The whisky has had an extra 12 months of maturation compared with the previous year's edition, which deepens its stout character. It yielded 1,500 bottles at 52% in 70cl, with no colouring and no chill-filtration. The nose is sweet stout beer, gentle smoke and oak. Creamy vanilla, cinder toffee and barbecue smoke develop on the palate, and the finish brings warming spice, green oak, rye bread and cereal notes.
