Lochlea – Red Wine Cask Single Estate Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

This is a single estate single malt from Lochlea, an independent, family owned distillery in Ayrshire, Scotland. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV and is the first release in an annual red wine cask series. The whisky was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and then finished in Grenache casks. Lochlea grows its own barley, distils on site and matures all of its casks there. It is described as bright and sweet, with summer fruits and strawberry shortcake, followed by a finish of spiced biscuits and rich oak.
