Lochlea – Red Wine Cask

Lochlea Red Wine Cask is a Lowland single malt and the first release in the distillery's annual Red Wine Cask Series. The whisky first matured in first-fill bourbon casks and was then finished in hand-picked Grenache wine casks. It is made entirely from barley grown on Lochlea's own farm in Ayrshire, and is distilled, matured and bottled on site. The nose offers fresh pink berries, floral sweetness, gentle oak and tannins. On the palate come juicy red fruit, creamy vanilla and a hint of almonds. The finish is lingering oak, warming spice and a satisfying depth of grain.
