Lochlea – Smoke Without Fire Ex-Peated & Red Wine Casks

Smoke Without Fire is a Scotch single malt from Lochlea, an independent, family-run single estate distillery. It was made on land once farmed by Robert Burns, with the barley grown and the whisky stored on the estate. The whisky combines ex-peated casks with red wine casks, pairing a gentle smokiness with wine character. The nose offers cherry blossom, lemon peel and red berry sweetness, with soft vanilla and a little smoke. On the palate come cherry sorbet and citrus, then firm oak and a light salty smoke. The finish is long, with toasted oak, ripe fruit and a floral hint.
