Lochlea Smoke Without Fire is a lightly smoky Lowland single malt, introduced in 2025 as part of the distillery's permanent Single Estate range. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration or added colouring.
The barley was grown on Lochlea's own Ayrshire farm. The whisky was matured in ex-peated refill bourbon barrels and red wine casks, so its gentle smoke comes from the casks rather than from peated malt. It was inspired by the earlier Ploughing Edition.
The nose offers ripe red berries, cherry blossom and lemon peel with a wisp of smoke. The palate brings soft coastal smoke, fresh oak and light citrus. The finish is gentle, with light char and floral sweetness.
