Lochlea – Sowing Edition 2nd Crop (48%)

This is the second release of the Sowing Edition from Lochlea, a farm distillery in the south of Scotland. The Sowing Edition is the first of a series of annual limited bottlings that follow the farming year, and it reflects spring, when the barley is sown. It was matured entirely in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and bottled at 48% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose offers plenty of vanilla pods and biscuit notes, opening to peach and white grape. The palate is lively and lightly citrus, with green apple and orange against buttery malt and toasted nut. The finish is a lasting, honeyed sweetness.
