A 20-year-old straight rye from Alberta Distillers in Alberta, Canada, made from a mash of 100% rye. It is double-distilled in copper pot stills and bottled at 56% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky was matured for 20 years in newly charred American oak, with a 3.5 char level. The cold Alberta climate slows maturation, so the oak develops gradually.
On the nose it shows lemon, marzipan and toffee, with peppermint, cedar, tobacco and clove. Cocoa and espresso lead the palate, followed by French vanilla, and the finish is long and velvety with butterscotch and honeyed rye spice.
