Longrow 18 Year Old First Release (70cl, 46%)

This is the first release of Longrow 18, the heavily peated single malt made at Springbank in Campbeltown. It was bottled in 2008 and 2009 at 46% ABV, in an edition of 2,100 bottles, and the 18 year old joined the core range in 2011. The whisky was matured in a combination of 20% bourbon casks and 80% sherry casks. Longrow is double distilled and heavily peated. The nose is typically described as sweet fruit and creamy cereal with vanilla, minerality, a little salt, leather and smoke. The palate is creamy and oily, with peat smoke, strawberry gum, grapefruit and red fruits. The finish is dry and long, with candied ginger, cherries, cinnamon, cloves and dark fruits.
