Longrow Peated Cask Strength is a heavily peated Campbeltown single malt from Springbank Distillery, bottled at 57% ABV in a 700ml bottle. The barley is dried over a peat fire for 48 hours, to roughly 50 ppm, and the spirit is double distilled.
It matured for almost four years in refill bourbon casks, then for over two more years in refill Pinot Noir casks. It is non-chill-filtered and bottled without dilution.
Tasting notes describe campfire smoke, damp earth, sea salt, lemon peel and redcurrant on the nose. The palate offers smoked bacon, peat, crème brûlée, vanilla, almonds, honey and black pepper with some berry sweetness. The finish is long, with ash, brine and dry oak.
