Springbank 5 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt Scotch whisky bottled at a cask strength of 57% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It was matured for five years entirely in ex-bourbon casks, and is non-chill-filtered with no added colour.
Springbank was founded in 1828 and is owned by J&A Mitchell & Co. It is one of very few Scottish distilleries to carry out every stage on one site, from floor malting to bottling, and uses its 2.5-times distillation.
The nose is salt spray, vanilla shortbread, white chocolate and soft peat smoke. The palate is creamy and malty, with orchard fruit, orange peel and peppery warmth. The finish is long, with dry oak, white pepper and sea salt.
