Springbank – 8 Year Old Local Barley (75cl, 58.1%)

This is Springbank 8 Year Old Local Barley, a cask strength Campbeltown single malt in a 750ml bottle at 58.1% ABV. It is bottled without chill filtration. The barley is Bere, an old six-row variety grown at High Ranachan Farm and floor-malted at the distillery. The spirit is lightly peated and distilled two and a half times in direct-fired copper pot stills. The nose brings barley malt, coastal brine and citrus peel, with a little smoke. The palate is thick and oily, with vanilla, lemon tart, ginger and mineral smoke. The finish is long, with honeyed cereal, earthy peat and sea salt.
