Longrow Peated is a heavily peated Campbeltown single malt from Springbank Distillery, bottled at 46% in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The barley is floor-malted and dried over peat for 48 hours, reaching about 50 phenol parts per million. The spirit is double distilled in a direct-fired copper pot still with worm-tub condensers, then matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. It won Gold as Best Campbeltown Single Malt at the 2013 World Whiskies Awards.
The nose is salty and smoky, with leathery peat, wet stone, green grapes and vanilla custard. The palate brings peat smoke, toasted marshmallow, white pepper and ginger. The finish is medium, peppery and warming, with coconut and salty smoke.
