The whisky was finished for a full year in a cask that previously held the distillery's own sloe gin, a red liqueur made from sloe berries. It is bottled at cask strength, 56.5% ABV.
The nose has strawberry cream, rhubarb and crushed juniper berries over soft rye grain. Sweet strawberry and vanilla cream open the palate, followed by black peppercorn and rye spice. The finish is long and warming, with leather, sweet oak and a faint berry tartness.
