This is an older bottling of Macallan 10 Year Old, a Speyside single malt matured in sherry wood and sold in a 70cl bottle. It is an old style release, from a time when the distillery's output was already tied closely to Spanish sherry casks.
Macallan is known for its small stills, which give a rich and oily new make, and for filling that spirit into large ex-sherry casks made of European and American oak. The distillery does not adjust colour, so each vatting has to match the last in hue as well as in aroma and taste.
