This is Macallan 12 Year Old 110 Proof, a Speyside single malt bottled at 55% in a 70cl bottle, released as a European exclusive. It is a higher-strength take on the 12 Year Old range, which is typically bottled at 40%.
The whisky was matured mainly in European sherry oak casks, with some influence from American sherry-seasoned oak.
The nose brings baked figs, plum jam, nutmeg and orange peel. The palate has toffee apple, Christmas cake, dark honey and clove, deepened by roasted hazelnut and a little cocoa. The finish carries treacle, sherried sweetness and gentle oak spice.
