Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 375ml bottle.
Both the European oak and the American oak casks used for it are seasoned with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, rather than pairing ex-bourbon and ex-sherry wood. The whiskies matured in each type of oak are then married together.
The nose offers warm fudge, candied orange peel and vanilla custard with gentle baking spice. The palate is creamy and toffee-rich, with milk chocolate, raisin, butterscotch and wood spice. The finish is medium in length, with sweet oak, caramel and dried fruit.
