This is a 13 year old Macallan from Speyside, distilled in 1983 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 24.29. It comes from a single bourbon cask, which is not the norm for Macallan, and 252 bottles were filled.
The nose is sweet, floral and delicate, with rose petals, peach orchards, orange blossom, marzipan and a summer fruit liqueur. The palate is like thick Manuka honey, earthy, oily, herbaceous and floral. With water, the aroma turns to butterscotch, rose water and mead, and the palate to strawberry and orange over vanilla ice-cream with mint.
