Macallan 15 Year Old Double Cask is a single malt matured in two types of oak, American and European, in casks seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry. It is bottled at 43% ABV.
The American oak contributes vanilla and citrus, while the European oak adds a subtle spice. Together they give a sweeter, warmer character.
The nose has dried fruit, caramel, vanilla and baked apple, with honey and chocolate. On the palate come sweet raisins, vanilla and wood spice, mixed with citrus. The finish is warm with ginger, turning to caramel and citrus.
