This is a Macallan 16 Year Old Speyside single malt, bottled by Murray McDavid as a non-chill filtered release in a 70cl bottle. It is one of 3,500 bottles.
The whisky was vatted from Macallan Oloroso casks and bottled at Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, where Jim McEwan, who managed the distillery, selected the casks.
The nose is heavy with toffee, raisins and stewed pears, with buttery shortbread. The palate is quite oily and nutty, moving to sweet buttered toffee with a hint of saltiness. The finish is long, with more stewed pears and figs.
