Macallan – Reflexion 1824 Decanter Series Limited Edition (2018) (70cl)

Reflexion is a Speyside single malt from Macallan, a 2018 limited edition in the 1824 Masters Series. It was created to show the natural colour of the whisky and the influence of first fill sherry seasoned oak. The whisky matured in first fill Spanish and American oak sherry casks, including smaller hogsheads that give the spirit more contact with the wood. Its deep red mahogany colour comes straight from the cask, and the faceted decanter is cut to catch the light. The colour is blood orange. On the nose are orange zest, citrus, green apple, chocolate, fudge, aniseed and caramel. The palate brings lemon, orange, raisin, sultana and apple with a little cinnamon and ginger, and the finish is soft and medium in length with boiled sweets and toasted oak.
