Macallan – River Spey Home Collection Limited Edition (2024) (70cl)

This is Macallan River Spey, a limited edition Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle and the second release in The Macallan Home Collection. It takes its name and inspiration from the river that flows through the distillery's Easter Elchies estate. The whisky was aged in sherry casks made from European and American oak, together with refill bourbon casks. The painting on the front of the pack, of the river in winter, is by the photo-realist artist Michelle Lucking. The nose is rich with raisin, sultana, cinnamon, apple and pear, alongside sweet oak, treacle sponge and vanilla. The palate brings butterscotch, toasted oak, chocolate and nutmeg with a hint of anise, and the finish is medium, with toasted oak and spice.
