This is an 18 year old Macallan from Speyside, distilled in 2007 and bottled independently by Gordon & Macphail under its Speymalt label. It comes from a single sherry hogshead and is presented in a 70cl bottle.
Gordon & MacPhail was founded in Elgin in 1895 by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail, and is now owned by the Urquhart family.
The nose is rich with dried fruit, prunes and figs. On the palate, leathery honey is joined by raspberry yogurt ice cream, citrus, melon, almonds and milk chocolate. The finish is full, waxy and soft, fruity and nutty, with cedar wood and almond paste.
