Mackmyra – 2010/2022 Peated Cherrywine Finish (70cl, 41.3%)

This Mackmyra is a peated Swedish single malt, distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2022 at 12 years old. It matured in bourbon barrels and was then finished in oak casks that had previously held cherry wine. It is a single cask bottling of 141 bottles at a cask strength of 41.3% ABV, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The nose is cherry with ginger spice, lightly tarry smoke, chocolate and marzipan. On the palate, cherries are balanced by smoke, toasted oak, a little salt and fresh tobacco, with raisins, butterscotch and vanilla. The finish is long and dry, with spicy vanilla, soft wood and tobacco leaf.
