Mackmyra – Gruvguld Swedish Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 46.1%)

A Swedish single malt from Mackmyra, bottled at 46.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The name Gruvguld means 'gold from the mine'. The malt is smoked over burning juniper twigs, following the Swedish tradition of preserving food that way. The whisky was aged in small casks of between 30 and 128 litres, stored 50 metres below ground in the Bodas mine, with finishes in PX and Oloroso sherry casks. The nose has summer fruits, citrus peel, vanilla and spice. The palate is sweet toffee with baking spices, and fruit and honey later on. The finish is short, with spice and oak.
