Mackmyra – Identitet 2023 (48.7%)

Mackmyra Identitet is a Swedish whisky bottled at 48.7%, built around Swedish oak and juniper smoke. It draws on the old Swedish practice of using juniper smoke to preserve food, combining local peat with juniper twigs to give what the distillery calls a Swedish smoke. The whisky matured in virgin Swedish oak casks, which differ from American oak in cell structure and in the form of their lactones. It opens with a soft, peaty aroma, gains flavour as it develops and finishes long and lingering.
