This is a single-vintage Bas Armagnac from the 1988 harvest, bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle. It comes from the Marquis de Caussade estate in Eauze, in Gascony.
The spirit is distilled from a field blend of Folle Blanche, Baco, Ugni Blanc and Colombard in a traditional continuous copper alembic still, then matured in oak casks for decades.
The nose offers prune, fig and apricot, with saffron, wildflowers, dried herbs, toasted wood and a little vanilla. The palate is smooth and concentrated, with candied stone fruit, baking spices and gentle tannin. The finish is long, with precious wood, spice and dried herbs.
