A Komagatake single malt from the Mars Shinshu distillery in Miyada, Nagano Prefecture, released in 2019 in a 70cl bottle at 60% ABV. It is a marriage of two casks chosen on behalf of ePower international trading and Bar Barns, and 498 bottles were filled.
One cask is a bourbon barrel distilled in January 2013; the other is American white oak distilled in March 2014.
The nose is complex and light-bodied, grassy and vegetal with nuts, moving to stone fruit, especially apricot, with boiled peanuts and vanilla. The palate is dry and oily with a syrupy start, then sweet candy and dried peaches and apricots. The finish is short to medium, with apricot slices and syrup.
