This is the 2018 Limited Edition of Mars Komagatake, a Japanese single malt, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured for at least three years in bourbon and virgin oak barrels, in the stone warehouse at the Tsunuki distillery in Kagoshima. One of 10,000 bottles made for worldwide distribution.
The 48% ABV is natural, with no added colouring and no chill filtration.
The nose is warm and fruity, with roasted banana, pear and apricot. The palate brings allspice, cinnamon, ripe plums and citrus, with cashew nuts and vanilla cookies behind. The finish carries peat smoke and peppermint.
